Road improvements for Newtown-Yardley Road, video-streaming and wind energy top the priority list in Newtown Township.
The road improvements are slated for Newtown-Yardley Road in Newtown Township between Terry Drive and the Newtown Bypass.
The project, which will cost an estimated $900,000 will include road widening, additional turning lanes and signal upgrades. New signals will be installed at the Headley development and Friends Lane.
Joe Czajkowski, Newtown Township manager, said funding is coming through the state Transportation Improvement Project (TIP). Originally, the project was supposed to be funded several years ago.
The engineering plans are complete and the township is “ready to go once we receive funding,” he said.
Video-streaming has been added on the township Web site, which is part of the upgraded system in the new municipal building.
“An icon on the front of the Web site goes to a place where streaming videos are stored. You can watch a meeting or part of a meeting,” said the manager.
Adding video-streaming to the township Web site has been discussed for some time. “It’s just an added feather for folks to see what’s going on in the township,” Czajkowski said. “They don’t have to wait until it reruns on the cable channel. They can click on
